How do I use Meta Ray-Ban Display with my Mac?

Out of the box the glasses talk to your phone, not your computer. That is the gap this closes.

MightyMouse is a macOS app that puts your Mac screen inside Meta Ray-Ban Display glasses and lets you drive it with Neural Band swipes and pinches. Your desktop, your cursor and every app you already own appear in your field of view, with no second monitor and no phone in your hand. It is a direct download for macOS from getmightymouse.com.

The short version of why you need anything at all: pairing the glasses to your phone the way Meta intends gets you audio, the camera, and Meta's own assistant. It does not get you your computer. There is no setting in that pairing flow that mirrors a Mac, because mirroring a Mac was never what that pairing was for.

Set it up in 6 steps

First, the one thing that trips everyone up: your phone and your glasses are two different devices here. The phone is only a helper. You use it once, to grab a web address off your Mac and to flip a setting in the Meta AI app. After that you put the phone down. The glasses are where MightyMouse actually runs.

In a hurry? This is the whole thing. Every step is explained further down if you want the why.

  1. Install MightyMouse on your Mac and turn on the phone remote.
  2. Scan the QR code on your Mac with your phone and open it. Your Mac now appears on your phone. Copy the web address out of the browser bar.
  3. In the Meta AI app on your phone, turn on Developer Mode.
  4. Still in that app, tap through: App Settings, then App Connections, then Web Apps, then Add a Web App.
  5. Name it MightyMouse, paste the address, tap Connect.
  6. Put the glasses on and open MightyMouse from the app grid. Type in the six digit code your Mac is showing. Each code works once, so read it fresh off the screen.

That is it. It is a one time setup, and after that the glasses reconnect on their own.

What Meta's pairing actually gives you

Worth being precise here, because it is the thing people discover only after buying. The glasses pair over Bluetooth to a phone. Through that link you get sound in your ears, a microphone, the camera, and the assistant and apps Meta ships. The Neural Band reads finger gestures for those same apps.

What is missing from that list is any notion of an external computer. Your Mac is not a device the glasses know about, so "how do I mirror my Mac to my Ray-Bans" has no answer inside Meta's own software. Every honest answer to that question today is either "you cannot" or a description of something else.

The part that changes: the glasses run a web page

The glasses have a browser. That single fact is the whole mechanism, because MightyMouse's remote control surface is a web page served by the Mac itself, over your own network. Whatever can open that page becomes a screen and a controller for the Mac.

That is the same page an iPhone opens when you use your phone as a remote for the Mac. Nothing about the glasses case is a separate product or a different protocol - it is the same control surface, opened by different eyewear.

Setting it up

The glasses open any web address you give them, so the setup is: get MightyMouse's address off the Mac, then hand it to the glasses. It takes about a minute and happens once.

Two ways to reach the Mac and both work. On the same Wi-Fi the glasses talk to it directly. Away from your own network, switch on off-Wi-Fi access in MightyMouse and the Mac gets a private address that works from anywhere. The steps below are the same either way, it is just a different address to copy.

  1. Install MightyMouse on the Mac and open Settings. It is a direct download - Apple Silicon and Intel, signed and notarized.
  2. Turn on the phone remote. The Mac starts serving its control page and shows you how to reach it.
  3. Get the address, using your phone. The glasses have no camera pointed at your Mac, so they cannot scan the code themselves. Your phone can. Scan it, open it, and your Mac shows up on your phone. Now copy the web address out of the browser bar and send it to yourself however you like. That address is the whole point of this step.
  4. Turn on Developer Mode for the glasses in the Meta AI app on your phone. This is a Meta setting, nothing to do with MightyMouse, and it is what unlocks adding your own web address.
  5. Add it as a web app. In the Meta AI app go to App Settings, then App Connections, then Web Apps, then Add a Web App. Give it a name like MightyMouse, paste the address, and tap Connect.
  6. Open it on the glasses. It shows up in the app grid, and you can pin it so it is one glance away. Type in the six digit code your Mac is showing. Each code works once and lasts five minutes, so read it fresh off the screen when the glasses ask.
  7. Done - and it stays done. The glasses keep their own stored credential, so next time they just reconnect. No code, no re-adding.

The pairing step exists rather than a plain link because the link alone would be a URL anyone who had it could reuse. Trading the code for a credential the glasses keep is what makes the second connection both automatic and not open to a stranger.

Being straight with you about where this is today: adding the address by hand through Developer Mode is the way in, because Meta's own pairing has no idea your Mac exists. It works, it is what we use every day, and it is not the last word. As Meta opens the glasses up further, this gets shorter. For now, you do it once and then it is just there.

What it is good for, honestly

The case that justifies it is the one where a screen is inconvenient and the work is still running. A long agent job you want to keep an eye on while you make coffee. A terminal you need to glance at without going back to the desk. Reading something on the Mac while your hands are busy with something that is not a keyboard.

The case it is not for is replacing your monitor for a day of work. A display in glasses is smaller and lower resolution than the one on your desk, and gesture control is slower than a real trackpad. This is for the times you are away from the desk, not the times you are at it.

One practical note: the glasses and a phone can both be connected, and the roles are distinct - one drives the cursor while the other views. Connecting them in either order works.

Common questions

Can you connect Ray-Ban Meta glasses to a MacBook over Bluetooth?

Not for the screen. Bluetooth pairs the glasses to a phone for audio and calls, and Meta does not offer a Mac or MacBook pairing that sends your desktop to them. Ray-Ban Display glasses do have a browser, so the way to reach a MacBook is to have the Mac serve a page the glasses open - which is what MightyMouse does over your own network.

Can I mirror my Mac to Meta Ray-Ban Display without extra software?

No. Meta's own pairing connects the glasses to a phone for audio, the camera and Meta's apps. It has no concept of an external computer, so there is no built-in setting that mirrors a Mac. Something on the Mac has to serve a screen the glasses can open.

Do I need an iPhone as well as the glasses?

You need your phone once, to set it up. Adding the address to the glasses is done in the Meta AI app, and that app lives on your phone. After that the glasses open the page on their own and the phone can stay in your pocket. You can also connect a phone at the same time if you want one screen driving and one watching.

Does my screen go through a server on the internet?

Your Mac serves the page itself. The glasses reach it over a private address that only points at your machine, and the screen data travels straight between the two. Voice transcription runs locally with Whisper, so audio is never uploaded.

Do I need an AI subscription?

No. Connect a Claude, Codex, Gemini or OpenCode account you already pay for and MightyMouse costs nothing. Have none? Sign up and use the built in option, no card needed. Voice transcription is free either way because it runs on your Mac.
